Dr. Shin grew up in South Korea and attended Seoul National University College of Medicine. After completing his military service, he came to the US and underwent Internal Medicine Residency in Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, NY and Infectious Diseases Fellowship at University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. He worked as faculty at University of Virginia until
2024, when he moved to California to join our practice. His research focus at University of Virginia was on C. difficile infection. Because C. difficile infection is a diarrhea illness caused by antibiotic exposure, focusing on this disease made Dr. Shin keenly aware of practicing good antimicrobial stewardship for which a detailed knowledge of all infectious diseases is very important. When he is not working, Dr. Shin loves spending time with his family and exploring
sunny Southern California.
